Forgotten Film

A friend recently discovered an old roll of film and got it developed, turned out to have photos from a long forgotten childhood birthday on it. Not quite as much of a dip in to the past but a little while ago I got a roll of slide film developed from my Smena camera and when the photos came back it had some from San Francisco that I had forgotten all about.

I think the root of my photography lies in a paranoid fear of forgetting my past, trying to record my memories before Alzheimer’s hits (it runs in my family). Forgotten photos come back to remind you just how easy it is to forget these snapshots of your life, without the photo itself to allow you to then dig in your memory and retrieve those recollections of times past.
