Very Smoked Fish
Whilst out on an early morning bike ride with my camera I discovered that the fish stall down at the harbour had burnt down very recently, so recently it still spelt of smoke and fish. No idea if it was an accident or arson (reminded me of the ice-cream wars in Southend, where rivals would torch vans).
The ‘Smoked Fish’ sign seemed quite apt.

Down by the harbour in Old Portsmouth, its just as you go in to the carpark where the Bridge Tavern is.
Be warned, the smell made me feel pretty ill!

Back in the 60s I think, Italian gangs. Southend and south Essex towns all have shell fish vans in pub carparks too and I think organised crime gangs fight over those these days too.

So gutted about this. Not only the lose of one of Southsea finest fresh fish stalls, if not the only one, hmmmmm, it also had the best illustrations.
