When Winter Sleeps and Spring Wakes Part 1
I’ve been slowly working on a photography project which involves walking and photographing the whole of the coastline of Chichester Harbour and after a break of a couple of months I got back on it with an exploration of Dell Quay and down to Chichester Canal. So happy to be working on this again, the harbour is one of my favourite places with a mix of tidal mudflats, hidden beaches of stones and sand, woodland, sand dunes, forgotten islands and countryside. Not to mention the water, yachts and the wildlife of course. The place as a whole is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and it has been a wonderful experience discovering it’s every little corner so far, I’m looking forward to continuing the project through the summer, ending with a harbour boat ride. Plus maybe a book of the photos and stories.
These photos are from Chichester Canal, which meanders from Chichester through the countryside and joins the harbour just south of the marina. The canal is home to many houseboats, many with their own little rope ferry to get them from one side to the other, plus a huge swan guarding the final lock.
