At the most easterly point of Eastney beach is Fort Cumberland, built in the mid 16th century to protect the entrance to Langstone Harbour. Over the years it's use has changed many time, most recently it was a test station for the navy before becoming a scheduled monument and home to archaeologists. Behind the wire still lies strange lights and the rusted remains of radar test equipment and the main test tower. At certain times during the year they open the place to the public so you can see the old brick fort and artillery fortifications, I really need to go next time.

I also really need to fix my Smena 8M camera so it doesn't scratch the film.
