The second part of the Langstone and Warblington walk was away from the shoreline up in to the woodland paths and then through to the famous castle tower and the church. The tower is the final remains of a medieval castle that had a very lively history with it being in the hands of Kings of England on a few occasions and also visited by many Kings and Queens of England and Scotland before it being demolished during the civil war.

From the tower to the church and then off back towards the harbour, the late autumn sunshine was falling through trees on to muddy pathways looked something special. Looking down the tree lined tracks the sunlight was reflected back from the surface of the rippling water.

It's become a bit of personal sign that the summer has arrived, my annual day out with Zoe to shoot her new fashion collection for her clothing company ZoZo. This is our third summer shoot and we thought we would mix it up and use digital and after a recent visit I recommended Hamble river for the location.

We started off in the village with the sun shining and from there moved to the country park just down the road. Hayley was an amazing model and in the end it looked like this corner of Hampshire became a mix of Cape Cod and Southern France. in a way.

ZoZo now has a new website featuring loads of the photos, have a look HERE.

Today's blue sky got me looking through the photos I took up in Suffolk over the Christmas period, none of which I've found the time to post so far! Now is as good a time as any. The weather was the same in so much as a wintery blue sky but back then we were still in the grips of the icy chill, with frozen water and face stinging winds.

The first part of my Boxing Day exploration was a small church tucked away in the countryside in a village called Uggeshall. The medieval church sits just on the one car width road and the long shadows from the low sun dropped over the hedgerows and graveyard. In the rear yard the tumbledown gravestones were thick with ice crystals, continuing the slow environmental wear on the stone, slowly eroding away the engraving and the identification.

Around this time of year I start to look forward to that friction hot weather you get as winter gives up to spring. The days where you don't know if it is t-shirt weather or not because despite the raw heat and glare it is still late March and still very cool in the shade.

Last spring I taught a photography class and we went on a field trip to Staunton Country Park in Havant and the other day I found these photos I had forgotten about, photos taken in the woodland by the lake and over a stream. I'm running another photography class this spring and I'm looking forward to another visit.

Leaving the graveyard I walked up the eastern road that cuts north on the eastern side of Portsmouth. The road leaves the built up Milton and runs up the side of Milton Common before meeting the harbour edge. I walked along the footpath but the snow on the common ground was up to two feet deep...as I found out when taking photos.

Just before getting to the harbour I spotted a group of five trees in untouched snow, with the line of the harbour behind. I think this is my favourite photos taken that day.

It's been a while since I last went on a 'get lost' road trip where I literally try and get lost in my car. These photos are from one of these road trips back when I lived in London, I drove south in to Surrey and meandered down some country lanes until I found something interesting. The walk I ended up finding looped up a hill in to some woodland, across a ridge and then down along some railway tracks and a viaduct.

These photos were taken with my little Olympus Trip 35 with some slide film that I cross-processed. As much as an expensive pain it is to get developed there is something good about leaving a film for ages, forgetting what is on it and then getting it back. Brings back memories, and in this case memories of a cold, windy day in the quiet countryside.

At the weekend Dave ran a skate jam at the Anti-fornia sister spot Padre, by all accounts it was amazing. The session then moved over to Anti-fornia with a mellow skate and a BBQ. Wish I could have made it up there. With a bit of luck photos and video (shot by Russ, in the frontside rock 'n' roll photo) will be up on Monster Network and Hythe Knives very soon. Can't wait to see what happened and also can't wait to make my way back in October, no doubt the spots would have developed and the skating will be going down in the woods again.

With my holiday over I have been looking through the photos and they bring back some amazing memories, easily one of my best holidays ever. These first photos are from a day skating Anti-fornia, the Hythe Knives latest DIY concrete skate spot hidden away amongst some forgotten derelict concrete. Dave Dixon has worked hard clearing space and building some amazing little concrete bits and pieces to skate and is planning on adding more and more. There is something special about making something out of nothing and then it itself being something that allows people to be creative.
